sorry these kinds of comments have been really pissing me off recently lol

#it's been kinda hard for me to pinpoint WHY exactly these sort of comments feel insulting #but i think it's mostly because it implies my original work is purposefully and inherently derivative of things i have no connection to #while i think being derivative in art is. kinda unavoidable in a sense (and something i'm aware i do consciously and unconsciously)#it feels like a slap in the face when people imply that my work cannot hold its own merit and need to be compared to #something in the popular conscious #and like sometimes people don't know it's original art which is fine #but it also doesn't hurt to ask if it's original instead of just. immediately assuming or comparing it to something else #i know this will only get more difficult as i continue to drift away from fanart and fan works #but i really want to be able to be proud of my original work and i want to share more! because it's a part of me!!#but its really hard when it feels like i'm always going to be compared to things people care about more!!!! I'm typing out some hella crazy long kaeya lore thing right now (im not even halfway done and i kinda fell asleep on it coz I was tired), but it led me to review older Kaeya lore things, and then i got hit with the "oh, another one for the kaeya thinking/talking about fate thing. wow" in a surprising location (well, not too surprising considering Fate lives rent free in Kaeya's head)

its in the full description of Kaeya's Sailwind Shadow skin.

" Different people live in different ways. A thief will not bear the blade of a knight, and a traditional knight will not sneak out a hidden dagger to hurt someone.

If the characters in the story don't abide by such rules, then the story has betrayed the roles dictated by fate."

That's...interesting. What are you trying to say, Kaeya? Do you actually dare challenge your role in this story?... Isn't he already betraying both of his roles?

But yeah, it's the same old idea about Kaeya's dilemma. He keeps mentioning that he wants to go against fate, but he also feels hopeless because how could he challenge something inevitable? I'm actually more impressed by the fact that he can't stop thinking about it...

...It's as if he is still ACTIVELY thinking about what to do for when fate finally catches up with him...

Well, Mona did say he has a huge decision to make...

I honestly want to do a deepdive on the skin's full description. There are so many keypoints in it that really delighted me when I read them again (not so delightful for Kaeya who was being all melancholic over a kid asking a single question, but very delightful for me- a Kaeyangst and Kaelore enjoyer)

Tired of the false dichotomy between "you should create for yourself without desiring any form of connection" and "feedback is everything and without it there's no reason to create." Neither of these things are wholly true, and it's frustrating to me that people have taken "create for yourself" to mean "you shouldn't want feedback or enjoy it, you should create in a vacuum with no hope of human connection" and are lashing back against what they think it's saying rather than what it's actually saying. I love comments and feedback and connecting with my readers as much as anyone and would never discount the value of that experience and I try to be the kind of engaged reader I would want to have because I know how much it means. I especially know how much it means to a niche creator because I've been that creator myself and I so treasure the readers who took a chance, gave my stuff a try, and stopped to say something supportive about it.

But that's also exactly the thing: the things I want to write are often things that do not in any way guarantee me an audience, but they're what I enjoy, and creating for myself is what gets me through those long first drafts where I know there is no guarantee of an audience because the reality is I'm choosing to write this thing and nobody owes me a readership. Internal motivation matters because there are parts of the creative process where internal motivation is all you have. I've seen people give up or nearly give up on projects that probably would have found an audience, if a niche one, because they convinced themselves that nobody would care and then couldn't motivate themselves to care. Or they decided that a small audience wasn't good enough; they need their work to be Popular or it was worth nothing.

And if someone doesn't want to invest themselves in creating something that might have a small audience, well, that's their choice. But creativity is inherently an act of risk, and a lot of amazing art would never be made if the creator wasn't willing to risk silence, rejection, loneliness. Yeah, those things suck. I'm not saying they don't, that's why it's a risk. But art isn't always about safety. Sometimes it's about creating because you simply have to get this thing out of your head, and you hope someone will connect with it, but you don't know until you try. So everything can't be external motivation. It just can't be. It's too limiting, it's too stifling. I can't live that way, personally.

#writing stuff #it's tough to talk about self motivation #because people will hear 'create for yourself' and be like 'so you want me to die?'#listen if it works for you it's not my place to tell you otherwise #but it usually comes up because people are unmotivated and unhappy #so.#idk do what works for you at the end of the day #but i just want people to understand #self-motivation isn't about rejecting connection #it's just about being willing to trust in your own mind and enjoy the process and take risks #and if you say 'well i don't enjoy the process' then that might be something else to reflect on

im going to be a micro ass

as much as i was frustrated with a number of roadblocks over the past few months like my sewing machine breaking and not being able to afford infinite fabric lol- i had to return to illustrative art and that was a really good thing for my psyche. i think i can say that im like...actually genuinely happy with my art now? i dont want to come off as egotistical but i've always struggled with feeling OK about my illustrative stuff. But after the past few crash course months of daily exercises it feels like everything finally clicked. i can draw easier, faster, and when its done its like "oh yeah. thats my guy. there he is fr."

#ive wanted art to be a bigger part of my life but its always been a side thing i do out of convenience #i think the next step is being ok with just doing it for me #its easier to connect with people about cosplay bc they have some preexisting idea of the character and series #but i only draw OCs which dont have that so i quite literally lose people on an order of magnitude by a factor of 100 on post engagement #but the whole point of pursuing this is to get away from external rewards #like a lot of the comments i get about cosplay stuff are focused on my appearance which does a lot of harm- but that doesnt matter w/ art #and everything about it is my own its not someone elses character based on someone elses idea #its something that came from my own experiences and feelings

I didn't get the trans Stan twins headcannon at first - mainly because I couldn't imagine adult Stan and Ford giving themselves almost identical names - but then I remembered how close they were as kids and, honestly, it would be more unbelievable if they didn't give themselves matching names. i can't with all these "the show is highlighting tommy's jealousy, they're planting seeds that it will cause problems" takes like bffr. he mentioned being envious over the 118's dynamic twice, sure, but in what world (literally how?) would that cause a relationship problem? do yall expect him to be in cahoots with gerrard behind their back and murder buck to take over his life or something?? like even with the hyperbole aside, i genuinely cannot see how they can turn this into relationship drama without going against everything they showed us with tommy so far

I think this one line in episode 3 sums up what didnt work for me in season 2 and that is the idea that the arcane problem is not eminently political

#and sure the political is still there. a few minutes later ekko points out the hexgate failsafe is connected to zauns air and water ways #ambessa & co also rush to try and use viktor for their own ends #but THE political problem shifts from the inequality to the foreign invasion while the arcane becomes a sort of super-political problem #something thats bad in and of itself and depends on the actions of one guy not because the city like gave it to him but just because #and especially something of an existential threat that equalizes all else. i dunno #arcane #arcane season 2 #arcane season 2 spoilers

#linktober #linktober 2024 #the legend of zelda #wind waker #ocarina of time #loz #loz ww #loz oot #link #josh art tag #had a lot of fun with this one despite how annoying it was to draw #oot link was at a difficult angle and i also just could not shade this for the life of me. restarted the shading like 3 times #i think im reaching that point in the cycle i typically go thru with my artstylr where ive grown tired of my shading style #to the point that i forget how to do it and it never quite looks right #so if my next post features changes to my artstyle thats why lol #but i enjoyed making this despite that cuz i like the ideas behind it!#i normally wouldve redesigned ww!link's outfit but i purposefully drew it accurately #to highlight how its more like a costume. cuz thats kinda what it was! and its modeled after the hero of times clothes #but is pretty innacurate. which i think is cool.. shows how much time has passed and how the view of the hero of time has warped #so i also purposefully made oot link wearing my redesigned outfit for him (even if you cant see much of it at this angle)#to further emphasize how ww!link's outfit is not only essentially a costume but is also quite innacurate #i like having ww!link ditch the costume for something else to show how he stops being some kid in oot!link's shadow #and grows into a true hero of his own #hence my ww!link redesign where i put him back in the lobster shirt. but i do keep some green and something similar to the hat #to have him fit in with the other links while still being unique #look i have a lot of feelings about ww!link and oot!link #i wish zelda would do more stuff like this... i think having oot relate to wind waker makes the story more interesting #and makes ww!link more interesting! cuz he cant be the hero of time they want. but he does become the real hero they need #the oot ww tp trio is so good... and they all work great as standalone games but their connections do really add something

Yesterday's episode were great I wonder what today's episodes will bring...

HE'S HERE!!! TAURUS IS HERE! EVERYONE PANIC! let's see how badly this ends....

Surprisingly well actually.

The music in this episode was also really good. I usually don't pay attention to the background music, but the music in this episode was really good it kinda reminded me of Walking Dead mixed with Last of Us. I'm not sure if that was the intent, but it works really well I feel for this situation.

Taurus is obviously menacing, but he's also oddly calm. Not what I expected from a destroyer of worlds. He says he's just here to observe Lunar and the others and decided if Lunar and probably the whole world should live.

I ain't gonna lie, I don't have hope for this world.

Taurus is gonna take one look at the whole place and decided everyone is better off dead. Which will probably lead to some kinda of Astrals civil war or Nexus showing up and whooping Taurus and the others Astrals behinds and Lunar having to step in and save the Astrals. But that's a pipe dream I guess. We'll have to wait and see.

I can. Nebula isn't a big fan of Taurus, and he clearly isn't a big fan of her. The way he talks to her, I get she's just the messager, but she's still a person. Taurus is gonna be observing everyone and his next stop his Sun and Moon, and I don't have high hopes for what he'll say or think of them. Him and the other Astrals know about Nexus and his little stunt with star power. Sun, Moon, you guys better have a good space lawyer. I know Earth plans to befriend Taurus and make things easier on Lunar, but I have a feeling Taurus isn't the friend making type.

Gemini did say Taurus would threaten Lunar's family to get a reaction out of him. Taurus, I swear to gosh! If you hurt any of them.

Also, I think it's a matter of time until Earth runs into Nebula again, and if she does, I hope she can convince Nebula to help them with EVERYTHING going on.

We'll have to wait and see.

Now, let's see what Sun and Moon are up to maybe they'll have a calmer episode today...

Nope. Just trauma and sadness.

Solar and New Moon reunite.

Probably not the way either of them wanted but here they are.

Okay, Nexus has just completely gone off the rocker!

Guess that saying was right for Nexus (Not really but still)

Solar tries to reason with Nexus and even says he can help him come back to the family, and Nexus just laughs! He starts spouting off all these lies about the family, like how Lunar never cared about him. He did! That Earth was just trying to fill the void cause her dad didn't love her. Earth still believed the creator loved her at that time, so that's a lie! And that Sun never cared and just took pity on Nexus. Nexus, you dense mother.... Nexus, you are just a terrible person. Knock off the oc act and get a life! Seeing as how you lost the one you had. I mean, you'll probably get yourself killed soon anyways so what's the point. But we probably should worry. Someone pointed out to me that Nexus could be a part of Rez's plan, and it's definitely looking like it. Maybe Dark Sun is Rez's master or at least is in league with Rez and his boss. I feel so bad for everyone here. (And I kinda feel bad for Nexus.... but not by a lot.) I more pity Nexus cause one day I hope he'll realize that he lost the BEST thing that ever happened to him and will never get it back and I hope he dies knowing that.

I more so feel bad for Sun and Solar.

Solar already had to kill his Moon once... and now he has to do it again. And Sun sounded so shocked and saddened when Solar suggested they kill Nexus. Nexus/New Moon was the Moon who actually showed he cared for sun. And he did at one point, but now he can't even say Sun's name without wanting to gag! Oof.

This is just sad all around.

And now they have Nexus, Taurus, and Creator after them.... LOVELY!

This is all going to boiling over and culminate in some crazy Infinity war level poo I hope.

And now, it's a less sad one but still equally as worrying.

Puppet and Solar reunite! Yay! At least one of his reunions went well today.

Puppet filled in Solar to everything that has happened. Gosh, that must have been fun. This is like the second time someone has had to explain to him what's been happening since he's been dead.

Solar gave Puppet some advice on what to do about Eclipse, and Sun gave her some advice on what to do about the other Sun and Moon. I hope their advice works. Puppet expressed at the very end of the episode her wish to leave this new dimension and return to the old one.... Puppet...

WHY DIDN'T YOU JUST STAY IN THE OTHER DIMENSION THEN?!

Puppet, you left that universe to protect everyone from Puppeteer. Now, I'm not sure what the deal with Puppeteer is now. He's been weakened cause Puppet herself has been weakened, but there is still the risk of him coming back. Are you really gonna take that chance, Puppet?

Also, Puppet, you uprooted your entire family's life to go here. You don't have that apartment anymore! You can't just decide to move to a whole other universe and bond to said universe only to decide to leave it after what 3 weeks?

Yes, I know Foxy chose to go with her, and he could have chosen not to but did, but still, you can't just decide to ditch when the going gets tough Puppet, you stick it out and ride the waves till it all calms. I hope everything works out for Puppet and Eclipse and hope Sun and Solar's advice to her works. Also, sorry if it seems like I hate Puppet's character, I don't. I love her character and this flaw of hers. I'm just being critical.

#really just want to see agni (and grace) being cool 😳 if that's not obvious enough #忠 on hatz's back means loyal #the sky is filled with shinsu loops (inspired by water dragon heavy storm technique but less destructive in exchange for wider range)#also if you haven't connected the dots yet. grace and jinsung are having a spar somewhere. and Agni is keeping it inside a massive barrier #he set up the barrier with shinsu devices ofc. not purely Agni's power. we can see him doing some typing there since he controls it #Also I forget if i have it written on future chapter or discarded it on this update script. but just in case i don't. here's an explanation #the barrier was meant to keep the chaos inside to stay inside. but because the shinsu on lower floors aren't as concentrated as upper floor #and shinsu inside the barrier was condensed with Grace's power. If the barrier was completely blocked off it'd be easy to suffocate inside #so they need the outside shinsu to be able to cross inside or Agni wouldn't be able to stay inside.
